“Did you know the average person spends four years of his life looking down at his cell phone?”
Talk about putting a crank in your neck…that will do it. Richard Williams, artist and rapper, opens his latest masterpiece, “Can We Auto-Correct Humanity?” with that question. Better known as Prince Ea, Williams highlights what he calls the “digital insanity” that has taken over societies around the world. Technology, he says, drives people to be more self-centered and disconnected than ever before. Interacting in a meaningful way with others is a thing of the past. The Prince’s piece is compelling. At a minimum, the video makes you think. It’s a little ironic to receive the message using the very technology he is addressing, but the message is otherwise very clear. The clip went viral instantly – case in point. Williams highlights that we have a choice to make – we can choose to take control or be controlled. To live life to the fullest and be intentional with the relationships we are in. Time’s a-tickin’ – better to not waste another minute. Choose well.
