In The Town of Vrontados in Greece, Easter is Celebrated With a Huge Rocker Fight. Spectacular

All over the world, Easter is celebrated in different ways. It could be a quiet service in the local Church or a family gathering. That is unless you come from  a little town in Greece called Vrontados on the island of Chios. In this unsuspecting town, Easter is celebrated in the form of a fireworks battle.

Two rival parishes of Vrontados village fire thousands of rockets every Easter Saturday aiming at the opposing church’s bell tower in a centuries-old tradition.

Here you can see to men loading rockets into a truck infront of Agios Markos church.

All the rockets are neatly arranged before being fired at the Panagia Erithiani church

Here you can see one of the first rockets being launched off the launching platform.

Locals protect their homes using these mesh screens. Things are about to get crazy

A lot of the rockets used are home  made

As night falls things really start to hot up

Rockets fly through the sky targeting the churches of Agios Markos, left, and Panagia Erithiani, right

As night sets in there are hundreds of rockets flying through the air

They are aiming for each others church bell towers

You can see the rockets flying over the church as worshipers enter to prey

This youth is lighting more rockets

All these rockets are lined up ready to go

Before long, the sky is full or rockets. They view is jaw dropping
