Kate Middleton’s signature look is classic and girl next door. She likes her make up to have a soft, smoky eye with a slick of liner and a pop of natural blush, topped off with a pinky nude lip colour. Her hair is always impeccably blown-out and her tresses launched a worldwide obsession – shiny, slightly wavy, and with the perfect amount of volume at the root.
Brows
Kate has strong, neat brows. Keep them looking full but shapely with regular threading, and bolster threadbare brows by drawing soft, feathered strokes with a brow pencil in the same colour, or one shade darker than your natural brow.
Skincare
Kate is said to count on products from facialists Karin Herzog and Deborah Mitchell to maintain her flawless, glowing skin. After being introduced by her motherin-law Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall, 31-year-old Kate indulges in regular Deborah Mitchell facials, her favourite being the Bee Venom facial, which uses special lymph drainage massage techniques to boost skin renewal, collagen production and radiance, and is dubbed the natural alternative to Botox.
Complexion
Kate wears very little in the way of foundation as her skin is naturally radiant. Keep it similarly pareddown with a tinted moisturiser or BB cream, which offers a little more in the way of coverage while boasting skin-perfecting properties.
If you need more coverage, a lightreflecting liquid foundation followed by a few dots of an illuminating liquid concealer pen under the eyes is excellent for cheating your way to luminous skin – we like to get the look with a splash of YSL’s classic Touche Eclat concealer.
Then, to get her English-rose glow, apply a pink blush to the apples of the cheek, blending gently along the cheekbone.
Eyes
Kate is famous for her love of a classic smoky eye. Pat a shimmering eyeshadow in a rich brown or dark grey all over the lid, taking it up to the crease and blending carefully into the socket.
Then add a touch of a lighter metallic shade to the inner corner of the eye. Apply a black liquid eyeliner along the upper lash line and finish the looks with a couple of coats of false-lash-effect mascara.
Lips
Kate sticks to natural toned lipsticks and glosses over vibrant shades – a look that works for every occasion. Line lips with a neutral pink lip liner, then fill them in with the pencil, topped off with a rosy-toned lipstick.
Hair
Kate’s glossy chestnut mane is cut into long layers that allow for lots of volume and movement by Mayfair-based hair stylist Rossano Ferretti. Responsible for tending to the tresses of both Kate’s sister Pippa and mum Carole, as well as Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Lawrence, Rossano is known for a special haircutting technique that allows hair to have a “natural flow“ – the exact style that Kate loves so much.
Get her gorgeous waves yourself with these simple steps:
1. Blow-dry your hair straight, but with movement, using a volumising product and a largebarrelled round brush to give volume at the root.
2. Clip up the top section of the hair, so you can deal with the underside first. Divide into 5cm sections, then, using a curling wand, wrap hair around the wand, twisting it upwards towards your scalp. Pin the curl to your head, and repeat the process on the rest of the hair.
3. Once the hair has cooled, unwind each curl and spray with a little hairspray. Gently comb through the curl with your fingers, then tousle slightly for soft, bouncy waves.
