There are a lot of how to’s out there but I do have to say that this one is the best. For any baker or any chocolate lover this quick and amazing little trick is a have-to-know!

Actually I think about an edible bowl is a smart idea. You don’t have to worry about your kids licking their plates/bowls after meals instead you won’t be able to stop them eating it! How awesome would it be to not have as many dishes to do at the end of the meal?! The more you think about it the better the idea gets! You can use it for dinner parties or even your kids’ birthday parties. There are even rice paper plates or sugar cups, the kids would go crazy for the idea of eating their crockery afterwards!

I’m sure as you watched this you thought “what could go better than this with strawberries and ice cream!” Sounds like a heavenly combination.

First melt some dark chocolate, about 12oz, in a glass bowl using a ‘Bain Marie’ – a glass bowl resting in a saucepan of hot water. This indirect heating allows the chocolate to melt, but without splitting. It also ensures the chocolate does not get too hot. Once melted, blow up a small balloon, tie it off and then take a small spoon of chocolate and dab it onto a sheet of greaseproof paper to make the bowl’s base.

Then dip and roll the balloon in the molten chocolate to cover the bottom half, ensuring it has an even lip. Lift the balloon out of the chocolate and roll it in the air a couple of times to cool the chocolate a fraction and then rest it on the chocolate disc on the greaseproof paper. Repeat the process for as many bowls as you wish to create. Leave in a cool place for an hour, and then to complete the bowl-making process, simply burst the balloons!
