Unless you have been living under a rock for the past few weeks, you will have heard the new song by Pharrell Williams entitled “Happy”. In case you don’t know who he is and can’t envisage the song it goes “because I’m happy, clap along if you feel like a room without a roof”.
The American singer and songwriter appeared on Oprah Prime, in which he broke down in tears of happiness when watching a compilation of fan-made videos for his song Happy.
“Why am I crying on Oprah?,” he asked rhetorically.
The original “Happy” video on Youtube has become an internet sensation across the whole world racking up over 182 MILLION views. He has had so many people talking about and linking back to the video that he is currently ranking number 1 for the word Happy in Google.
He told Oprah that it is incredible how quickly and virally the song has spread. “Zero air play, nothing,” he said.
“And next thing you know we put the video on November 21st – all of a sudden, boom”.
