For most people a pencil is an instrument for writing or sketching with. Not in the case of São Paulo-born artist Dalton Ghetti. For years Dalton has been working with lead ever since receiving a set of tools for his 9th birthday.
At the age of 24 Ghetti moved to the USA where he worked to receive an arts degree in architecture. He then graduated and became a home remodeller. He continues to do this job until present day but produces these exceptional models in his spare time.
Here he has worked with the tips of lots of different pencils to carve out the alphabet on each one.
By carving out tiny little links, in this example he managed to connect the tip and the base of a pencil making a chain in-between.
Elvis
This is one of my favourites. 2 hearts connected to each other.
In this piece Dalton has sculpted a hammer from the tip of a fat pencil.
Key chain
This looks like a screw sticking out of the tip of a pencil.
In this piece, he has used part of the wood from the pencil to make the handle of the saw.
A tiny little stool
Here he has sculpted a button on the top of the pencil
It is so clever how he used this pencil to create a cross coming from the gap.
