This Mum Refused to Pay Full Retail Price For The Mask. Instead She Made Her Own

When this mothers child wanted the mask from the movie The Mask, she went round a load of stores but couldn’t find a good quality mask. Rather than pay for something rubbish, she decided to make her own. These images show how she did it and the incredible final result.

First she bought a tub of Crayola Model Magic Foam. She paid around $15 for it from Staples. She shaped this into the rough shape of a flattened out mask.

She then took a butter knife to add some details. This detail it to give the grain of wood effect.

2

She then laid the mask over a mannequin head to give it the correct shape. She then dried it for a couple of days.

3

She then took some acrylic paint that she had lying around the house.

4

Before painting the mask she applied a few coats of clear coat to strengthen it and give a nice surface for painting.

5

She started with a layer of black paint to give depth to the cracks.

6

She then added some brown.

7

Then some gold and green paint.

8

The finished result is fantastic.
