9 Ways to Recycle Your Banana Peel

Rarely do we give our banana peel a second thought. Next time, rather than throwing it away in haste, you might consider one of the following apPEELing uses.


#1 Splinter Removal



Tape some of the peel over your splinter. Enzymes assist to dislodge it and heal the wound.

#2 Acne Treatment and Prevention


Treat existing acne and reduce outbreaks by placing a piece of the peel over the acne area. Rubbing the peel on your face in the morning and evenings should produce results after a few days.

#3 Soothe a Rash


Got poison ivy? Rub the banana peel over the area to soothe and cool your skin.

#4 Fertilizer


After drying out the peels, grind them up in a blender and feed them to your plants!

#5 Teeth Whitening

After rubbing your teeth with a peel once per day for two or three weeks, you should see results (by week 2).

#6 Polish Your Shoes


No need to match shoe polish colors with you’re your shoes! Just rub the shoe with the inside of a banana peel and use a soft dry cloth to buff.

Place the peel across your forehead and lay back for a few minutes – you should be headache free!

Expedite your healing – the potassium in the peel help heal wounds faster.
